THE GOAL:

Heart biofeedback, also referred to as heart-rate variability biofeedback, is a non-invasive holistic treatment tool to support the healthy functioning of the brain and body.

THE BRAIN LOOKS FOR PATTERNS

The brain continuously monitors informational inputs to help organize perceptions, cognition, feelings and behaviours to  match existing patterns.

When the brain finds a stored pattern that matches the current input (visual, sound, smell), it connects to the stored reference point and experiences it as either familiar or comfortable, even if that pattern not beneficial or even destructive.

If there is enough difference between the existing pattern in the brain, then a mismatch occurs. This triggers feelings of discomfort and even physiological responses.
